BOHEMIAN WAXWING -2016
Venue: Hå Gamle Prestegård, Rogaland Norway
The series of watercolours and oil paintings on display are all results of repeated gestures and improvisation, inspired by nature’s 4 seasons and the constant change of light and color throughout the year, some are painted outdoors. Dynamic compositions hint at possibilities for a shift in balance, kinetic energy is brought forward by layers of contrasting color.
Included in the project is the video work Bohemian Waxwing (2016) suggesting a dreamlike theme within an abstract form. The work is edited from an ongoing video-diary covering a time span running parallel to the completion of the paintings. Hence functioning as a documentation of the artist’s gaze and visual experience, echoing the gestures of the paintings as well as adding new poetry.
